Celebrating One Year Of Marriage Equality
Today marked the one year anniversary of the momentous SCOTUS ruling ensuring marriage equality for every loving couple in every state in the USA. Because our country now recognizes that Love Is Love, I have been able to perform wedding ceremonies for all loving couples.
This weekend, I was honored to participate in another of the many same-sex weddings that I have performed over the past year.
As you can see, I took a quick selfie with the two brides. This was minutes before the ceremony began.
The wedding was outdoors, and it was obvious by the smiles on everyone’s faces that it was a perfect day to watch Nichole and MJ tie the knot!
Another Wedding Planned Today – Shhh, It’s A Secret!
Nichole and MJ’s beautiful wedding was yesterday.
Today, I met with another couple to plan the wedding that they’ll be having in 3 weeks. This couple consists of two women who have been together for 16 years. They are silly and fun, and are still very much devoted to one another. I can’t share names or details because their friends and family don’t know about the upcoming ceremony. It will be a complete surprise! But I can share how happy it made me to meet them today, exactly one year from the day that the Supreme Court made it legal for them to marry!
A Wonderful Year Of Weddings
I look back on the past year, and think of all the couples I’ve married since that historic moment on June 26, 2015. The ratio of straight couples to same-sex couples is roughly the same. Each couple was special, whether straight, gay, white, black, hispanic, mixed-race, Christian, Jewish, Buddhist, Atheist, or any other combination of ethnicity, gender, or religion. Every single wedding involved two spectacular people in love.
I love what I do. Thank you all for allowing me to be a part of your special day.
